Facebook is taking a strong stance on adverts that reference the coronavirus outbreak and this is their way of reducing misinformation and fears about the deadly virus. Facebook plans to simply ban ads that talk about it if they vow to cure or prevent the virus or try to create any sense of urgency about it.
A spokesperson said, “We recently implemented a policy to prohibit ads that refer to the coronavirus and create a sense of urgency, like implying a limited supply, or guaranteeing a cure or prevention. We also have policies for surfaces like Marketplace that prohibit similar behavior.”
Facebook is presently dealing with an increase in panicked conversation and false information about the coronavirus, which has sickened over 79,000 people worldwide and killed over 2,600 so far.
