HTC has appointed the Orange executive Yves Maitre as its new CEO, effective immediately. He has worked at the French operator over 14 years, most recently as EVP of Consumer Equipment and Partnerships. Cher Wang, who served as CEO for four years, will continue as chair of the HTC board, focusing on the company’s technological shift to VR devices.
Maitre has worked with HTC previously, starting in 2005 when he was Senior VP for Devices at Orange. He also served as a member of Orange’s innovation technology group, charged with developing disruptive revenue opportunities. Prior to joining Orange, Maitre spent six years working for Thomson Multimedia where he served in senior positions in the US and Singapore. He has also held roles across supply chain and product management.
