Huawei and Samsung are both demonstrating 5G connectivity at the Goodwood Festival of Speed, which takes place recently.
Huawei has brought the 5G Experiential 5G-powered hub to the grounds of Goodwood. This has several ‘experience zones’ where visitors can simulate everyday digital experiences such as cloud gaming, cloud PC gaming, 360 live streaming and broadcasting and cloud VR. Huawei has also signed a 3-year partnership with the Goodwood Festival of Speed to display its technologies at the festival’s Future Lab.
Samsung will present a remotely-controlled 5G car at Goodwood, with partners Vodafone and Designated Driver. Drift Champion Vaughn Gittin Jr will remotely drive this VR car, starting with an initial ‘drive’ up the Goodwood Hillclimb before the event opens. The Lincoln MKZ car will be controlled from a different location on the estate, powered by a Designated Driver teleoperation system, the new Samsung Galaxy S10 5G and Samsung VR headset. This will all be enabled over the Vodafone 5G network.
