Xiaomi has announced a new range of affordable smartphones with high-end cameras, the Mi CC series. The Mi CC9 offers a similar body and high-end camera configuration to its flagship Mi 9, with 32MP front camera and 48MP rear camera, as well as an in-screen fingerprint sensor and a large 4,030mAh battery. The phone will sell from CNY 1,799, along with the lower-spec Mi CC99e from CNY 1,299 and the high-end Mi CC9 Meitu edition for CNY 2,599.
The new offer builds on the company’s flagship Mi 9 smartphone, with the same manufacturing process to create a comfortable hand-feel with a curved glass back. The CC9 also makes use of the Mi 9’s 6.39-inch FHD+ Amoled display and screen-to-body ratio of up to 91 percent.
Available in the colours White Lover, Blue Planet and Dark Prince with 3D effect, the Mi C99 has a multi-color LED light on its back cover for notifications or light effects when listening to music or playing games. Xiaomi also introduced the new Mimoji feature, to use the front camera to produce cartoon photos and animations.
The Mi CC9 is powered by Qualcomm’s Snapdragon 710 mobile platform and comes with 6 GB RAM and a choice of 64 or 128 GB storage. Despite its slim form factor, the Mi CC9 packs a high capacity 4030mAh battery combined with power-saving features to accommodate up to two days of regular usage. The device also has multi-functional NFC, Hi-Res audio, 3.5mm headphone jack, and an IR blaster.
The slightly cheaper Mi CC9e takes on a smaller form, with a 6.088-inch screen, Snapdragon 665 processor and the 4030mAh battery. It runs 4 or 6 GB and a choice of 64 or 128 GB storage and comes in a gradient color, reminiscent of the beaches of the Bahamas, Xiaomi said. The smartphone features a highly-customized UI theme and ringtone that vibes with its holographic back cover.
The Meitu Edition comes with the same hardware configurations – a front 32-megapixel selfie camera and a 48-megapixel triple camera setup on the back. The main difference is the Meitu camera optimization, with additional features and video editing capabilities such as AI low-light portraits and beautify mode.
The Mi CC9 and Meitu edition go on sale in China from 05 July and the Mi CC9e edition launches on 09 July.
